God's Blessing

We just saw this full rainbow, such a blessing after all the rain we have been experiencing. A little reminder that moving up north was a good plan!

Walking and watching

We have already enjoyed being closer to the peak district, although not yet being able to climb, we did enjoy a great walk at the well known spot of Dovedales (about 45 minutes from our house)
It was raining slightly, but we pressed on picnicing by the river and then walking for about 3 miles.
Of course we walked across the famous stepping stones and finished with a well deserved ice cream.
And yesterday we visited the Attenborough Nature reserve just 5 minuts from home, Charlotte and Daniel were able to cycle to their hearts content and stop and vie the amazing bird life on the way.

Down in the Hood!

Nottingham is of course home to Sherwood forest and the legendary Robin Hood.
We spent a wonderful day last week exploring and learning about the man himself.
Daniel loved his hat and sword(safer than a bow & arrow) he really did enjoy himself even though he is not impressed by the 800yr old major oak tree in the background.
Charlotte with her now short hair had fun pretending to be Maid Marion. The finale of the day was a wonderful re-enactment jousting tournament with horses and sword fights between the sheriff of Nottingham and Robin and his merry men.

We've landed!

We have finally arrived in Nottingham! We moved in on August 4th and having unpacked most boxes, are slowing wading through the last few, we just need somewhere to put it all now!!!
We have been in and out of the house. Daytrips to Sherwood Forest and Dovedales. Daniel is now very proud to say he lives in Robin Hood County! Interspersed with multiple trips to the shops.
Before school starts we have to look forward to a birthday party, trip to the beach, camping and some times with great friends.
The kids are settling in well, and Daniel has just about stopped asking when are we going to move to our real house?!? Will be glad when school and nursery starts, otherwise they will think its a permanent holiday.
Andrew doesn't start until the end of September, easy life being a student!
Would love to welcome you to our new home, and for you to visit the delights of the North or is it the Midlands?
